"G was a valued employee and lived with her mother, who was becoming increasingly frail.
Unusually, G began to take occasional days off, sometimes as sick leave and when this was discussed with her line manager she admitted that on some days her mother’s care needs meant that she faced difficulties in coming to work and leaving her alone. She feared that it may end up with her having to give up work to care for her mother as there was no-one else to help.
Her line manager could recommend MCM, which G had forgotten that her company offered as part of the benefits scheme. G was able to have a look at the website, request more details and speak with a telephone advisor who recommended some basic steps to getting G and her mother more help and support. A full care and support plan recommendation could then be accessed by G if she wished, together with organising any care needed, based on personal finances and circumstances."
